■Story
The story is set in Edo right after the restoration of imperial rule. Katsu Kaishu, who wants to avoid a large-scale war against the Satsuma clan samurai who are doing their utmost to overthrow the Tokugawa Shogunate in Edo, gathers a diverse group of peasants, such as "the village's strongest man," "the tallest man," "the fastest runner in the village," and "the quick-witted small man," from neither the Aizu nor Shonai clans. He secretly forms a private army. Ushigorō (played by Masaki Suda) and Ichizo (played by Keita Machida), among the peasants who have gathered for the substantial reward, receive special training from Shimada Kōnosuke (played by Ryuhei Matsuda), a former member of the Shinsengumi, and grow day by day. And they go into their first battle. With a spirited war cry, the peasant army that went out confidently was given the name "Ichi-geki Hissatsu-tai" (One-Hit Kill Squad). Based on the storytelling of kōdan, this is not a story about "great men" who left their names in history but a youthful action drama about "peasants," ordinary people. Now, the curtain rises.
